Makeup is ancient – Cleopatra wore it, and it hasn’t slowed down since then. As long as women have wanted to look amazing, there has been some kind of makeup-related way to do so. You just need to use it best way you can and know when “less is more” really applies. Makeup is growing faster than ever before, so as an intelligent consumer, you have to know how much and how often to use it the right way.
Immediate and Delayed Gratification
There is an old saying that the longer the wait, the sweeter the reward. I know, it’s been a long day and you’re tired, and it is so tempting to just leave on whatever makeup is left over and deal with it in the morning. But I urge you, fight this urge! If you don’t, it can turn out badly for you over time, even a little bit of time. Your skin will thank you later.
A lot of times, when you don’t remove your makeup with a good makeup remover before you cleanse at bedtime, it comes back to haunt you. This can lead to clogged up pores, and those lead to breaking out. Do you really want to go back to the high school look? Take a few more minutes to stop this problem in its tracks, and you’ll be glad you did.
Don't Be the Jill of All Trades
To continue with today’s clichés, being a Jack or Jill of all trades usually doesn’t go very well for you. In this case, you may be wearing a kind of makeup that has some level of sun protection in it, but there’s a good chance it isn’t enough to really protect your skin. Half-hearted protection usually gets you half-hearted results, and these can include prematurely aging skin.
UV damage is a big deal. If you are the kind of person who would never think about the effects of skin cancer, (even though a lot of people do), your skin will still age faster if it takes in more UV rays from the sun. So even if your brand of makeup carries some SPF or sun protection factor protection, you still want to use a dedicated sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
And can we please just end the whole idea of rubbing ordinary oil on your skin instead of using real sunscreen? You’re not a breadstick!
Cruelty-Free Doesn't Need to be Savings-Free
In the modern world, animal cruelty needs to stop. Some makeup companies have traditionally used animals to test their products, and this is cruel because the animals can’t say or do anything about this treatment. The great news is, you can! Plus, as more and more companies get into doing cruelty-free makeup products, the prices have plummeted in the past few years.
You do not have to blow all of your savings on cruelty-free makeup that still looks great. With a little shopping around, you can look wonderful and feel just as good knowing that your beauty is so much more than just skin deep.
There are many different aspects of beauty that need to be talked about! Makeup can make you uniquely you, how are you using it to empower yourself?
